General information

Sister house to 1956 E. Fourth St.

Research indicates this house was built in approximately 1886 by George and Mary Tobias. George was a machinist. William McCreey, an engineer was the second owner. Later homeowners included a stonemason and a shoemaker. When this house was built, Fourth St. was known as May St.

This Victorian vernacular style home was built for the average workingman. The front porch is a welcoming feature. The exterior paint colors of yellow and red are especially striking. The interior includes wide pine flooring in the parlor and dining room. The home has been renovated to include two bedrooms upstairs with an extra room and two baths. In 2002, Urban Village Renovations did an excellent job restoring this house. This was their first project in the Huffman neighborhood.
